Scholarship Details

The Conservation Genetics Lab at Boise State University, led by Dr. Stephanie Galla, is seeking a motivated graduate student to join the M.S. in Biology program through a National Science Foundation–funded research project.
The student will investigate the evolutionary history and conservation genetics of Sharp-tailed Grouse, using genomic data from both modern and historic specimens. The project will combine approaches in genomics, bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, and conservation biology to address questions about subspecies boundaries, population history, and changes in biodiversity through time.
Although the academic program will begin in Fall 2027, we intend for the applicant to begin research in May 2027 to advance their initial laboratory work over the summer. NSF Funding is available to pay for the summer work before fall semester begins.
