As part of the fully funded DAAD Scholarships, the German Academic Exchange Service offers In-Country/In-Region Scholarships for Master studies at top African research institutions.
DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships aim to foster strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development.
The scholarship offers full sponsorship that covers tuition fees, stipends up to €6,860 per year, health insurance, as well as study and research allowances for selected candidates.

The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with the aim of contributing to developments in the African region.
The In-Country/In-Region programme in developing countries aims to contribute to training highly qualified professionals and managerial staff for sustainable development in the partner countries.
The programme thus offers scholarships to future university teachers from developing countries for postgraduate courses and for doctorates.
Recipients of the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships study at universities in their home country or at highly qualified institutions in the region, some of which are organised in networks.

Scholarship Requirements
To be considered for the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships, you must satisfy the following conditions:
Be Graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa with a first academic degree if applying for a Master’s programme.
Be candidates who want to pursue Master’s degrees in their home country or in the country for which they have a residence permit (so-called In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country, outside their home country/in the country for which they do not have a residence permit (so-called In-Region scholarships).
Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme.
Benefits
For the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships, funding is provided for the usual duration of a course – generally, up to two years for Master's degree programmes.
