The French Government through the Embassy of France in South Africa has announced applications for the 2027 France South Africa Scholarships for Master’s and PhD studies.

The fully funded Campus France South Africa Scholarships includes a full tuition waiver, a €22,200 annual stipend as well as accommodation priority for selected scholars.

You can do a postgraduate degree in France with a scholarship! Applications for the 2027 Campus France South Africa Scholarships are now open.

Eligible candidates are able to pursue Master’s or PhD studies (priority for STEM and related social sciences fields) at a university in France commencing in September 2027. 

The scholarship offers you the opportunity to do a postgraduate degree and discover… French food, culture, landscapes, art, music, history, friends, lifestyle and excellence!

Eligible Countries

Scholarship Requirements

To be considered for the Campus France Scholarship, you must:

  • have citizenship of South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi.

  • intend to start your studies in France in September 2027. 

  • have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution – you can apply if you are in your final year of study.

  • enrol for a programme taught entirely in English or in French, depending on your own language abilities.

Applications are open to all fields of study. Priority will be given to applications in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, including related humanities and social sciences disciplines.

Benefits

The Campus France South Africa Scholarship covers;

  •  Monthly living allowance (approximately 900€ for master students and 1 850€ for PhD students.)

  • One return flight

  • Social security coverage

  • Visa fee exemption

  • Priority access to student accommodation

Scholarship holders are exempt from tuition fees at public higher education institutions that apply the standard national tuition rates for non-European students.
