Applications for the 2027 Jefferson Scholarship Programs are now open for international students to study in the USA.

The Jefferson Scholars Foundation attracts outstanding undergraduate students to the University of Virginia through two scholarship programs–the Jefferson Scholars Program and the Walentas Scholars Program.

Jefferson and Walentas Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have undergone a rigorous selection process and who possess an exceptional record of and the potential for impact both inside and outside the classroom.

Scholarship Requirements

To be considered for the Jefferson Foundation Scholars Program, you must:

  • be a home or an international student

  • enroll for your undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia.

  • meet the entry requirements for admission at the university.

  • satisfy the English Language requirements of the University of Virginia.

Benefits

The Jefferson Foundation Scholarship includes tuition, room, board, books, and miscellaneous expenses based on full-time enrollment for eight semesters at the University of Virginia, plus coverage of supplemental enrichment experiences.

  • Virginians receive over $42,000 per year or upwards of $230,000 total.

  • Non-Virginians receive over $83,000 per year or upwards of $405,000 total.
