Scholarship Details
The University of Cambridge Studentships are PhD opportunities funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (ESPRC).
An ESRC-funded PhD studentship through CAM-DTP supports 3.5 – 4.5 years of full-time study.
Studentships start on 1 October each year for both full-time and part-time applicants, and successful candidates will be required to submit their PhD within the duration of the studentship award.

To be considered for the University of Cambridge Studentship, you must:
Have a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
Be a home or international student.
Students must have an offer of admission before they can be considered for funding by CAM-DTP.
Benefits
The studentship provides:
Tuition fees up to the value of the national UKRI rate for Home students; international students are welcome to apply but will need additional scholarships, from alternative sources, to fund the remainder of their fees and any immigration costs;
An annual tax-free stipend at the UKRI rate (£21,805 in 26/27 for full time students)
Financial support for research training – up to £900 available from your Department
A personalised training programme, to develop research, communication, employability and personal skills;
Support to carry out a required three-month placement, known as an Innovation Fellowship, with an academic or non-academic partner during the course of the studentship.

How to Apply
To apply for the University of Cambridge Studentship in UK, interested and qualified candidates should follow any of the routes below to submit their applications;
Route 1: Supervisor-led topics

Check the Studentship Opportunities page to see if there is a topic that you are interested in

Contact the supervisory team to find out more and discuss a research proposal within the topic

Apply for a PhD at the lead supervisor’s institution with a research proposal within the topic by the relevant PhD application deadline above

The supervisory team will nominate their preferred candidate to CAM-DTP in early February.

Students wishing to be considered for CAM-DTP funding must have made their PhD application to their preferred university by the following deadlines:
