2027 University of Cape Town Mastercard Scholarship For Africans

University of Cape Town Mastercard Scholarship Program is to transition promising young people from beneficiaries to benefactors, preparing them with the necessary values, knowledge, skills, and leadership to fuel economic and social progress across Africa.

The Program targets academically qualified undergraduate and postgraduate candidates who are economically disadvantaged young people with leadership potential from Africa.

The Program will provide scholarships to academically talented young Africans to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies at UCT.

To be eligible for the UCT Mastercard Scholarship, applicants must;

• Be a citizen of an African country, including South Africa;

• Be applying for their first bachelor’s degree or an eligible taught postgraduate programme at UCT, including:

1. a postgraduate diploma offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences;

2. an honours degree offered by any of UCT’s six faculties; or

3. a coursework master’s programme offered by any of UCT’s six faculties;

• Demonstrate academic talent and a commitment to excellence;

• Face significant social and economic barriers to accessing higher education;

• Demonstrate potential for transformative and ethical leadership; and

• Be committed to serving their communities and contributing to positive change.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program offers the following benefits;

• Comprehensive financial support (full tuition fees, a laptop, learning materials, annual return ticket allowance, and a full-year monthly stipend.

To apply for the UCT Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, applicants must

  Only applicants who have applied for academic study and placement to UCT can submit an application for a Mastercard Foundation scholarship.

Step 5: Upload certified copies of an identity document, passport or refugee papers; proof of address; current and previous post-secondary transcripts; as well as proof for complete/current degree, curriculum vitae, essay, declaration and signatures; and affidavit declaration

Step 6: Identify two recommenders
